Minaj Smyriou Black Currant

(Ribes nigrum)

Full Sun to Part Shade. Aromatic, flavorful berries are mild and sweet enough to eat fresh, height to 5′, self fertile

Black currants are taller than red currants (to 5’) and produce deep purple-black fruits in clusters.  This variety is milder and sweet enough for fresh eating, but still has that unique black currant aroma and tartness.  Super fruit full of antioxidants and minerals.   Can take more shade than gooseberries.   Very adaptable plants–have withstood many droughts without any watering and don’t even blink at soggy conditions.  Space 3’-5’ apart in row. Self fertile. . .

3″ pots $3.50, Quart pots $7, Gallon* pots $14
