Myoga Ginger

Zingiber mioga -Sun to Full Shade–  Young leaf shoots and flower buds used in Japanese and Korean cooking. Zone 6

Myoga ginger is a beautiful ornamental ginger that can be grown in the ground in zone 6 and possibly colder. It is in the same family as conventional ginger but doesn’t make a fleshy rhizome like regular ginger. Instead the young leaves and flower buds are used as a ginger flavored vegetable in traditional Japanese and Korean dishes. It is useful in the shade garden, but can also take up to full sun.
